Founded in 1971 to take advantage of the wealth of scientific expertise of Milan’s Bocconi University, the SDA Graduate School of Business has become an important reference point for the Italian and international business communities, hosting more than 800 executive education courses involving more than 10,000 managers and executives every year. SDA has an academic staff of 400 members, both Italian and foreign, drawn from universities and the corporate world. Every year over 300 guest speakers enrich SDA’s courses, bringing and sharing with participants their experiences and issues facing their companies and institutions in all sectors of the economy. In addition to executive education, SDA is involved in management education (with masters programs in English and Italian), case study development, and research activities. The School is very well connected among international networks of business schools and is continuing to invest in the internationalisation and innovation of teaching methods. In 1998 SDA Bocconi was granted the EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) award.
Three faculty members from the Department are at the core of the G.E.M. project and the development of the NoE. Andrea Pontiggia is project director, and both Paola Caiozzo and Bryan Mundell have worked on the project. The G.E.M. project is a high priority within the department, and the NoE is perceived as both innovative and relevant to the business, government, and not-for-profit sectors of the economy. By co-operating with the four other partner business schools and Technology Consulting (plus eventual other NoE members), the Department hopes to revitalise the Italian and the EU employment market and also strengthen its position in the European management and cultural arena. |
